Stylin’ summer gear for the fashion-conscious canine

pet parade Today is the first-ever Pet Parade Blog Party, co-hosted by Gayle at Planet M Files and ELK at red or gray depends on the day. If you have a pet (or two or more), love animals, or just want to check out some fun pics of pampered pooches and cuddly kitties and other furry friends, go check out Gayle’s blog and follow the links to visit the other Pet Parade participants :-)

A couple of weeks ago at the dog park, we met a girl and her dog, Max. Max is a Black Lab/Boxer mix who loves chasing after balls and laying down in puddles and mud… see??

Max

Max wears a very handsome blue collar. I asked Max’s owner (that’s how it works at the dog park — you know the dog’s name, not the owner’s name) where she bought it. She told me that it’s called a Smoochy Poochy. She said it’s the best collar for dogs that like to get wet because it’s made from vinyl, so it doesn’t get all gooey and stinky from being in the water like leather and nylon collars do. And it’s really sturdy. Max, her puddle-and-mud-loving pooch, has had the same Smoochy Poochy collar for 1-1/2 years, and it still looks as good as new.

…for the fashion-conscious canine

So I decided that Squirt needs a Smoochy Poochy collar. Because she swims all summer long, and because I’m bored of her black leather collar ;-) And I thought I’d get one for Jackson too, because his cool lime green collar with the silver paw studs is unfortunately getting worn out. Kylie is a total suck when it comes to water, so no new Smoochy Poochy for her!!

(No collar for me, I stick my tongue out at you…)

I decided on red for Squirt and blue for Jackson…

OK, enough with the pictures, I’m bored…

I think they look very fashionable and ready for summer in their brand new Smoochy Poochy collars :-) But not as ready for summer as this guy…

Or these guys & gals… barktini, anyone??

Or maybe cruising with the top down is your summer thing…

These things are called Doggles. Seriously. Really, I’m NOT kidding. I swear to you. Go here for proof. And here too. I don’t know about your dogs, but there’s no way those things would stay on my dogs for more than three seconds!!

Surf’s up, dude!!

Kelly, what a fun post! Your pooches are very handsome! Those Doggles are so funny. My dogs would have them off in seconds and Timmy would chew them up just as quickly!

Thank you for joining the Pet Parade!

Doggles? That's too much...but hilarious! More like Chewoggles for my Max ond Maggie. Go here http://www.cleopetra.net/pages/homepage.html for some cool canine stuff - I used to carry this line in my store. Unfortunately if you fall in love with something you'll have to ask her who her vendors are.

Hey...thanks for coming over and saying hello on my blog! You have some really great photos here! If I were to have a dog, it would have to be a blue eyed huskie....gorgeous! I wonder how he would get along with my rabbit? LOL.

p.s. Thanks for visiting me today.

What handsome pups! I love how you said that you know the dogs' names and not the owners' at the park. I'm the same way!

I always marvel at owners who can keep stuff like those doggles on their dogs. NO WAY mine would tolerate that.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Kylie is gorgeous and looks like she prefers snow. My Springer is the same way - loves snow and hates water. Your pups are sweeties! The Doggles would be mincemeat at my house. Fun post! Thanks for the visit!!

These sun-basking Pooches are toooooo much!

Kelly, your canine kids are really beautiful! As they appear to love posing for photos; do you think they may possibly know it? :)

It's great to see so many people participating in the Pet Parade :-) Thanks to all of you for visiting and leaving your wonderful comments about my stylin' doggies post :-)

To answer your questions....

Betsy, I think all our dogs might try to eat your rabbit!! But I bet he's faster than them and would scamper away and laugh at them from a safe distance :-)

Puna, we have three dogs -- Kylie, Squirt, and Jackson :-)

Brenda, they probably DO know how cute they are!! Kylie especially gets a lot of comments. I've decided that from now on, whenever somebody makes a reference to her being gorgeous or whatever, I'm going to say "Thanks, I get that all the time" :-D

elk, oh yeah, it's DEFINITELY all about love and pampering!! Thanks for coming up with the idea for the Pet Parade. And thanks to Gayle for hosting :-)

I saw a bumper sticker today that said "wag more, bark less!" I think we can learn a lot about happiness, loyalty, unconditional love, etc. from a dog. Fun post!

Hey,

Your dogs are super cute - I can't wait to meet them at the dog park! And since we already know each others dog's owners, we're that much further ahead!

You think Doggles are out there? Check this out: www.neuticles.com...there's pampering your pet and then there's this...
