More IDS 2010 eye candy

I still need to organize and resize my pics from IDS 2010, and I have a huge pile of brochures and business cards and other literature to sort through. But that won’t stop me from showing you some more IDS 2010 eye candy!! I can’t remember all the booths in the pics, but if you see something you want to know more about and the info isn’t there, let me know and I’ll try to find the source for you.

Let’s get started with a kitchen with a purple back-painted backsplash — have I mentioned I love purple?? ;-)

andros kitchen 7 bath

And there was a green kitchen…

I’m not sure what this kitchen by Croma is supposed to represent, but it’s kinda cool:

I SO want the mirror in this bathroom display!!

Check out this funky “broken” table:

And a funky chair from Ziggy’s At Home:

More amazing tiles from Saltillo

I’m planning to dedicate a post to this product from Surface Innovation Inc. It’s slate veneer — a 2mm thick slice of slate is adhered to a fibreglass backing. You can bend it and curve it, and it can be applied to almost any surface.

If you want to see more eye candy from IDS 2010, check out these posts from Donna at dh designs and BubBleS at Our Journey. And there’s a photo stream on Flickr of the booth award winners.

This was a really fun booth by Suite 22 Interiors. Love the clocks, the purple chairs, and the HUGE chandelier!!

Oh, and you HAVE to see this — can you guess what it is??

head massager

It’s a head massager!! It’s made by Kikkerland and I bought one at the Ziggy’s At Home booth. Theoretically, it’s a b-day gift for hubby. But I really bought it because it makes my head feel good, and I plan on using it a lot!! :-)

I’ll be posting more about IDS 2010 later this week. I’ll show you pics of some of my favourite products and I’ll tell you who we saw and met… stay tuned!!

And the winner is…

Fantastically Wonderful News!!

Kelly likely hasn’t heard – she is, after all, busy hob-knobbing with Sarah Richardson and all the other fantastic Canadian designers at Toronto’s Interior Design Show (she wrote about it here)but…

Our very own Kelly Has Won Design Trade Magazine’s Give Us Your Best Shot II Competition (held on Facebook) in the Home Office category!!

Kelly's Office

Kelly is SOOOOO talented… I think she can hob-knob with Sarah and the gang quite comfortably, don’t you?!!

Congratulations Kelly!

You deserve the accolades, Chickie!!

To read all about the transformation of Kelly’s home office, go HERE. You’ll be very impressed!

And be sure to check out Design Trade’s site and blog… oh, and their Facebook page!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just found this out about 15 minutes ago when I read an e-mail from Diane congratulating me on winning!!!!!!! THANK YOU to all our blog buddies and everyone else who voted for my office — we really did it!!!

We haven’t seen Sarah R, but we’ve seen quite a few other designers, talked with Jane Lockhart, and saw Brian Gluckstein break a countertop — whoops!!!! Hahahah!!!! Actually, was probably the cameraman who was filming the segment with Brian. Poor guy!!!!!

I’ll be writing about the the IDS soon — but now, we’re off to a fancy-schmancy restaurant that has $30 burgers on the menu. Yikes!!!! But hey, our motto is “We’re in Toronto”, so no budget this weekend!!!! :-D See you all soon, and thanks V for taking care of our blog and posting about my office :-)

Victoria here. I wanted to respond to Kelly’s statement = “we really did it!!”   Well… yes, we voted for you and your room… but YOU did it!! You made this space look FAB!!

Own it Girl!!

sigv

P.S. Wow!! Two posts from me in one day! Scroll down if you’re interested in what else I have to say today. Not nearly as exciting as THIS news, but fun (I hope) nonetheless!!

Meeting Kelly’s challenge - or trying to!!

Well she’s gone and done it… before leaving for the Interior Design Show in Toronto Kelly threw down the gauntlet by writing “…I’m leaving DesignTies in the capable hands of Victoria… write something, V!!”

Shocked

WHAT?! Yikes!!

I’ve been such a BAD blogger, sitting back and letting Kelly do all the work. Bad, bad, bad!!

The thing is, included in Kelly’s arsenal of talents is a mega-dose of energy. She goes and goes and goes… kinda like the Eveready Bunny. HaHa! What an image!! ;-)

Me?? It’s all I can do to get through my day.

Are you feeling sorry for me yet?! ;-)

So how about a Patti’s Bathroom Remodel update?

Here’s a photo showing all the beautiful BLING… everything perfectly installed!!

DSC02641

And the room’s pièce de résistance…DSC02636

The bathroom isn’t quite finished yet. Obviously we still need to find the perfect mirror, and Brian and I still need to install baseboards and the new bathroom door (this weekend). We had a set back… I injured my right shoulder and haven’t been able to do any physical work for the last week. But I’m feeling better now!

My hope is to present DesignTies readers with the final reveal of Patti’s bathroom very soon!! Of course all these little progress posts I’ve shared have pretty much revealed everything already!!! HaHa!

Now… to find the energy to contribute more posts to our blog!!!

Sarah

P.S. Just came across news that Sarah Richardson and her uber-talented and funny colleague Tommy Smythe were at the Interior Design Show’s opening gala last night… and so was Kelly!! I can only imagine how excited she would have been to see and possibly meet(!) Sarah last night!!! WooHoo Kelly!!

Road trip - IDS 2010!!

IDS logo

Thursday morning, Donna from dh designs and I are heading up the 401 to Toronto. Which wouldn’t normally be exciting, because driving in Toronto is a nightmare and the city is just way too big and scary (yes, I’m a wimp!!) But in this case, it’s exciting because we’re going to the Interior Design Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. Yeah!!

mtcc

IDS 2010 kicks off with the opening night preview and party on Thursday evening — and we’re going to be there!! And then Friday the show opens to trade only, and we’re going to be there too!! In my little fantasy world, we’ll bump into all the great designers and I’ll amaze them with my charm and witty conversation and design knowledge. But in reality, I’ll be a nervous wreck if I do happen to see someone famous, and I’ll run away and hide behind a tropical plant.

These are just some of the exhibitors that will be there… AM Studio creates beautiful glass light fixtures and door inserts.

I’m intrigued by a company called Cubeshops. According to their web site, Cubeshops is “a community of specialty shops that represent commodity markets of specific cultures”. This felt bag and animal bookmark are fun :-)

From the IDS web site:

The Interior Design Show/IDS 10 is Canada’s largest contemporary design event. Since our inception in 1998, over 500,000 design professionals, consumers, and media have attended. The newest and most innovative in international and Canadian products are annually presented by 300 exhibitors. Inspirational exhibits feature both emerging and established designers; and highlight international interior design, architecture, and industrial design trends. The most influential architects and designers from around the world share their design philosophies and experiences within the international keynote speakers program.

IDS is more than just a show. It is the total design experience.

And we’re going to be there to experience it all. Well, as much as we can squeeze in between Thursday night and Saturday afternoon :-) I’m planning to take lots of pictures, which I’ll share with you next week. In the meantime, I’m leaving DesignTies in the capable hands of Victoria… write something, V!!
