Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting Metamorphosis Monday every week :-)
We’re SO EXCITED about our Met Monday post this week… because this week, our transformation is all about YOU and transforming YOUR space!! How?? We’re giving you the opportunity to win a wonderful piece of original art!!
Canadian abstract artist Matt LeBlanc has graciously provided us with a fabulous painting to give away to one of our lucky blog readers. You may have read about Matt a little while back in this post. If you didn’t read it before, go read it now!!
Thank you, Matt!!
The painting that’s up for grabs is 16” x 20”. It combines earthy colours with an interesting cross-hatch pattern and lots of texture (which you can see in the close-ups). Matt creates the majority of his paintings using a large brush that he’s dubbed Squeaky :-)
NAME THAT PAINTING!
Here’s what you need to do:
- Come up with a name for this painting. The name can be only ONE WORD. Any word — a real word, a made-up word, a foreign language word — one word that you think captures the essence of the painting.
- If you’re a registered user, leave us a comment with your name for the painting.
- If you are NOT a registered user, send us an e-mail at designties@gmail.com with a name for this painting.
- Only one entry per person.
- Everyone is welcome to enter the contest, whether you live here in Canada or on the other side of the world :-)
- All entries must be received by Friday, March 6th at midnight (PST).
Three nonpartisan judges will select their favourite name from all the entries we receive, and the winner will be announced in next week’s Met Monday post. Matt will sign the back of the painting and include the date and the winning name with his signature. Matt will then ship the painting to the winner :-)
This is your chance to add a beautiful piece of beautiful original abstract art to your home… so get those creative juices flowing and come up with a name that makes our judges go WOW!! :-)
Check out some pictures of Matt’s work hanging in is client’s homes…
And to check out some transformations that make you go WOW, head back over to Between Naps on the Porch and check out the list of other Metamorphosis Monday participants!!
You can read more about Matt on his web site and his Facebook group…

Magnificent! It makes me feel like I'm looking across San Francisco Bay with the bridge poking through the fog. So a great name for that painting would be Pontus. That's Latin for bridge.
Congrats to whoever the lucky winner is and congratulatons to Matt on his sucess in the art world.
I didnt have a project to participate in Met Monday, however i would like to offer you both (Victoria and Kelly) a sisterhood award that was passed onto me. If you are interested please stop by and grab it. After all, anyone that has had to listen to my rants and constant changes that take place in my home deserves this award.... thank you for your suggestions and encouragement and most of all your patience when im sure at times you felt like yanking your hair...lol

I knew straight away what this painting represented to me. There is a wound through the centre, very deep but mended strongly and hopefully to last forever. So, my word for this painting is Reconciliation…mainly in reference to the hope that our Indigenous people and other Australians can build mutually respectful relationships despite the injustices and prejudices that has happened in the past.

Hi, now you know I'm a silly. How about "Ouch!"
;)
Be sweeties,
Shelia :)
It reminds me of a "crown of thorns" SO.... Savior is the name I choose. Thanks, Pinky
Lovely choice for today's Met Monday! Sorry for the late visit; too many errands...
My word would be "STITCHED" because it looks like a closeup of an intricate stitching.
Carolyn of What Now? Tablescapes
I see pain in that piece of art. It's all so personal though isn't it?
I'm very good at following orders. You told us to name that painting. So, I'll name that "Painting".
"WiReY" because it looks like barbed wire on top of a fence....
I'm loving all your name suggestions and your reasons for the names :-) It's interesting how everyone sees the painting in different ways.
Tom, you're silly -- but funny!! :-D
Keep the entries coming....
Kelly
As they say in "Dumb and Dumber", "So you think I've got a chance!"
a name for the painting
"Exodus"
OK, now a serious one. This painting looks like an EKG line to me. So I'm thinking heartbeat, but that doesn't represent the look. How about "Pulse"
I think you can have the new 'blog' linked to a side photo (check Patricia Gray's blog) so that people can link to it from your existing blog and it doesn't look like they are on an entirely different blog which is how it looks now. Check out hers.
My suggestion is Worn...as the texture makes it look like it has been around awhile.

I've been thinking about this all week, but I can't get "Scarred" out of my head. Like the scars from healing wounds, which aren't a bad thing cause they make us who we are. Not the warmest, nicest word I know, but it's the only one that keeps coming back to me.
Time's almost up!! Still a few hours to get your name in....
