Ottawa interior decorator: A little kitchen sneak-peek

Purple_Birthday_by_Randomeone Thanks to Victoria for the purple birthday tribute, and thanks to everyone who left me happy birthday wishes :-) I REALLY appreciate it!!

My birthday was pretty quiet and low-key. Hubby gave me a new lens for my camera (Weeeehooo!!!!), and we went out for Thai food for supper. AND… we started installing the kitchen backsplash — another big Weeehooo!!! I have to thank Paul at Kitchen & Residential Design yet again for suggesting the fabulous backsplash tiles from Mirage Glass Tiles. How cool is it that I’m in Ottawa and a designer in Florida told me about tiles from New York City?? The Internet is a great thing!!

We still have one small spot to tile, and then we have to do the grouting. And if I ever decide what colour to paint the cabinets, we’ll get that done and then the kitchen will be FINISHED!! It’s been a long project and there have been some major hurdles along the way (don’t you hate dealing with idiots??), but we’re finally getting close. So I thought I’d give you a little sneak-peek at the backsplash…

I can’t begin to tell you how much I ADORE these tiles. They are seriously gorgeous and I love them and I just want to kiss them!!!

smooch

How about you — do you want to kiss them too?? ;-)

You’ll have to wait at least a few more weeks for the final reveal… trust me, as soon as it’s done, I’ll be posting lots of pics!!

I love that backsplash! It's gorgeous! It reminds me of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup once they start to mix together, which I've always thought looks really pretty. Man, it's making me hungry!

I think the tiles are fabulous..., and they would work beautifully in my kitchen too..., but we decided not to have a backsplash, just a return piece of the granite since we don't have upper cabinets (and to save work and cost, ha!). But who knows, we could always add it later. our kitchen counter should be installed in about two weeks. I'm so curious to see your kitchen!

Those are some seriously nice tiles! Very rich looking, but natural too. They suggest so many possibilities in so many directions! Can't wait to see the reveal.

Glad to hear you're enjoying colour class too. It does take time. :)

Happy birthday too BTW! Enjoy...

That tile is really gorgeous! Is it glass? It looks almost like chocolate capezio shell. I love all the rich colors. I really can't wait to see your finished kitchen, I know that it's going to be fabulous. Glad you had a great birthday. What lens did you get? Kathy

Fantastic Kelly, I can't wait to see that tile when it's all in. It's hard to believe that I mailed you that sample last summer and now there it is in your home. I agree, the internet is an amazing thing.

Wow that kitchen will be H O T!
Isn't it fun getting exactly what you want and finishing up a project and crossing it off your list!

So cool and great selection on the tiles too.
