We've got it (re)covered for Met Monday

Kelly @ JAX Decor & Design

Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting Met Monday :-)

A couple of furniture transformations for you this week...

If you have a piece of upholstered furniture that you love, but you’re just not crazy about the fabric, give your piece new life with new fabric. It's good for your wallet and for the environment :-)

This was my grandma’s chair. It went from this…

...to this…

It was pretty simple – we just removed the upholstery tacks and the old fabric, traced the outline of the pieces of old fabric onto the new fabric, cut out the pieces, stapled the new fabric onto the frame, and replaced the tacks.

And this bench for the living room went from this...

To this...

The fabric wasn’t quite wide enough to cover the bench cushion entirely – we had to staple it along the bottom outside edge instead of underneath. So I came up with a way to hide the staples – a piece of black velvet ribbon attached with strips of upholstery tacks. And it ended up being the perfect extra little detail :-)
