So… is this a Bedroom with a Bathtub in it OR is is a Bathroom with a Bed in it?!
I was doing some internet research today for an “Inspiration/Ideas Sheet” that I’m preparing for a client – I was looking for beds made with predominately neutral bedding, however with a coverlet at the foot of the bed in a colour or print. The above – as you can see – is a perfect example.
But when I looked more closely at this bedroom/bathroom (found on Apartment Therapy, by the way) I found myself wondering if I liked what I saw. Hmmm. Don’t get me wrong… I’ve seen and liked tubs in bedrooms, but does it work in this space?
Okay… here’s what I love: the paneling in the room; the slight lean in the walls (obviously this room is in the upper attic-type corner of a house/building); the fresh white used in the space; the pops of khaki (natural colours) used to warm up the space…
You know… maybe it’s that same white freshness I mentioned I liked, and maybe it’s the long row of pegs ready for hanging towels, or maybe it’s the vanity space ready and waiting for a bathroom sink… but when it comes down to it the WHOLE space feels more like a bathroom to me and NOT a bedroom… to me it’s definitely a Bathroom with a Bed in it!!
What do you think?
P.S. Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!! XXOO

I definitely agree with you. Besides the bed, it looks way more like a bathroom than a bedroom. It would need more bedroom-y things like a dresser, some art, or maybe even just a small room divider in front of the tub to make it more like a bedroom. I think it's pretty, although I am not a fan of that much white in a room, but it's one step away from sleeping next to a toilet in my mind, which is something I could never do. What an interesting question, though!
I am sorry to disagree, but I love the concept and I love how clean and well plan is this space. Very european, chic and clean lines.
The bathroom for me is the water closet and the sink - no body wants to see that in a bedroom, but a caster tub is showing that it can be the most seductive piece in the bedroom and a very cool focal point.
I would love to have a tub in my bedroom - maybe one day :)
I missed your birthday yesterday - So Happy Birthday today, have a fantastic year..
Ivan is that you up there I disagree with? Oh no - this room reminds me of an old hospital room. it's a little too sterile for me. And that tub (is lovely) but not inviting at all in this vacant room. It looks cold wet and drafy - I should stop now shouldn't I? I'll be nice..The white sheets are pretty..
Definitely bed in a bathroom..
When I was married I lived in a house built in the 80's with a huge tub built into the corner of the master bedroom. It was a total pain to clean and really I prefer the warm steamy feel of being in the bathroom!! It's a bedroom, sorry to break it to you :)
It is a bathroom without a doubt with a little sterile feel. I personally feel very comfortable combining the bedroom/bathroom idea, since they so much intermingle in our daily life...
I'm not a fan of this bath/bed combo at all..., unless you have to for spacial reasons.
This definitely feels like a bathroom with a bed in it. I do like alot of elements in the room, but it certainly has a bathroom vibe to me. Kathy
I agree with you, and I'm not a fan. But I've stayed in hotel rooms with an nice bathtub in the bedroom, and those, I've LOVED!
I'm not a big fan of the bath in the bedroom - it seems like it wouldn't be practical. But I'm with Christy - they are great in hotel rooms!
Apart from the bedroom/bathroom issue - I find this room too sterile. More punches of colour would do wonders.
Belated birthday wishes! YOu know I really, really like this. To me, if it really is an apartment, I'm maybe not as keen having the tub in the bedroom but it looks like an attic space so it's a clever use of space. The boards on the wall and the all white freshness reminds me of one of my favourite things: a lake cabin painted entirely in white (inside) and with this fresh sleek look. In a cabin, I would really like the tub in the room (much more private since there are always people all over). I do agree that I'd like to see a tad more colour here and there but not too much. For me, this is definitely perfect for a cabin. :)
