Compromise sucks, but you do what you gotta do

What do you do when you want sexy super-dark brown kitchen cabinets and your hubby wants not-so-sexy white cabinets?? Why, you have a battle to the death, of course!!

Hehehe!! No, not really — although that might have made the decision-making process easier!! ;-) What you do is compromise. And paint lots of samples on every available piece of cardboard. And then you patiently explain to your hubby why five colours that look exactly the same to him really aren’t.

So here are our finalists. The virtual colour chips are from myperfectcolor. They aren’t quite true-to-life, but you get the idea :-)

And the five contenders with the wall colour, Sherwin Williams Balanced Beige:

Here’s a shot of the countertop & backsplash…

So can you guess what colour we chose?? Leave a comment and let me know what your choice is. I’ll show you the sample door with the new cabinet colour as soon as we get it back!!

Meanwhile, hubby and I are back in our happy place and all is right with the world…

  2. One of the darker ones I would assue..., worldly grey? I'm curious!! The kitten shots are great!

  3. Sherwin Willianms Wordly Grey due to the veins in the backsplash tile and balance of light and dark once it's next to the appliances.

Fun choices (did you know most men, not all, are color blind?)

Glad you've come to a final decision.

  4. I'm so excited to see the finish project! This was definitely a teaser. I like grey mist- but I go for light, it's a weakness!

This Xango is my retirement! Or maybe just a new pair of shoes;)

  7. I'm guessing Worldly Gray or Shoji white. I can't wait to see this finished kitchen. And I know that you can't wait either. I still heart that backsplash tile, it's gorgeous. Kathy

  15. My guess is the grey mist ... The darker ones look like they might be a little too pink.

  18. Oh Kelly, this is hard. They are so close. I think the dark one, the Sherwin Williams Worldly Grey. As for me, I chose seafoam green to go with those tiles. I still have to take a pictures of the tile for you but here's a link to the whole kitchen. I'll take a closer photo of the tile soon...

  26. I'm going with November Rain, wasn't that a Guns n Roses song? Oh, sorry to soil your blog with that band's name. Axl Rose leaves all sorts of residue. HAHAHA
