Maria at Colour Me Happy tagged us to take the Colour Personality quiz from House Beautiful. This is the kind of quiz we like, ‘cause you can’t get any answers wrong :-)

So for this week’s Hooked on Fridays blog party—hosted by the colourful Julia at Hooked on Houses—we’re both hooked on fun colour quizzes :-)

In alphabetical order (no… NOT in order of importance… geesh!!)… first Kelly and then Victoria! (Yes, in order of importance!! ;-p)

What’s the first colour you see in the morning? The blue-gray bedroom walls. Or Jackson’s merle & tan spotted butt – depends on which way my head is facing ;-)

What colour are your eyes? Blue. But they look kind of turquoise when they’re bloodshot.

What colour do you wear the most? Hmmmmm… I have a lot of colours in my closet. But I usually wear grey T-shirts around the house, so I guess grey. Although this week I’ve worn purple, bright green, and red :-)

What colour do you never wear? Yellow. I don’t think I own a single piece of yellow clothing, not even underwear!

What colour do you wear when you want to feel sexy? No colour, I go buck naked ;-) Hahahah!! Oh god, NO – me naked, NOT sexy!! Ummmm… my favourite pieces of clothing are purple, so I guess purple.

What colour gets you the most compliments? Fuchsia pink. How the hell do you spell fucshia?!?!? OMG, I just got it wrong twice in a row, even after the spellchecker told me how to spell it right!!

What colour is your lipstick? I hardly ever wear lipstick. I have a lipstick called Granite that I like. Well, I HAD it – I lost it, so I can’t even tell you exactly what the colour looks like because I can’t remember. Kind of a brown/plum/bronze. Oh, I think this is it:

What colour was your living room when you were growing up? Peach. With blue swivel rockers and a cream sofa with big olive & peach flowers and a wall with striped textured wallpaper. Hey, it was the ‘80s, what do you expect?! ;-)

What colour was your bedroom when you were growing up? Lavender till I was about 14. My grandma made my bedding and curtains — the fabric was lavender with tiny white raised dots and white pompom trim along the edges. I recently found the valance, but I don’t know where the rest of it is :-(

What colour are your sheets? I have a grey flannel set, a brown flannel set, and a tan cotton set. The same colours that are in the bedroom.

What colour was your favorite crayon as a child? I think it was Indigo blue.

What colour is your car? Which one?! We have a black smart car, a numeric blue smart car (different shades of turquoise), a bright blue Chevy S10 pick-up, and a charcoal grey & black Mazda MX6. My favourite is the turquoise smart :-) Although driving the V6 MX6 totally rocks when you’re used to 40HP!!

What colour was your prom dress?  I didn’t go to my prom. Proms are highly over-rated!!

What’s your favourite gemstone?  Toss-up between sapphire and amethyst.

What is your favourite flower?  Blue hydrangeas.

What colour makes you happiest?  Purple :-)

What colour depresses you? Hmmmm… I don’t know if there’s a colour that depresses me. I really don’t like Pepto Bismol pink or flesh colour. Oh, OK, that’s probably it – flesh colour. Oh, even worse – BandAid colour. Ick!! Why can’t all BandAids be colourful & cute??

What colour calms you?  Nothing calms me!! But my eyes feel most relaxed when I’m looking at grey, so I guess grey.

What colour makes you grind your teeth?  Our pinky-peach oak kitchen cabinets – BARF!! This is why I need to wear a mouth guard to bed every night!!

What colour would you like to try, but are scared to? I’ve tried all the colours I’ve wanted to try — purple, red, cobalt blue, apple green, grey, chocolate brown, orange… I might try black one day. I’m not scared to use it, just don’t have anywhere to put it.

What’s the first colour you see in the morning? I don’t see much in the morning because my eyes are half-closed for at least the first 5 minutes after I get up. I’ve stubbed big toe many times, believe me!! But the first colour I NOTICE in the morning is the wonderful orange – BM’s Bronze Tone – in my dining room.

What colour are your eyes? Like the song says, I’m my fella’s “Brown eyed girl”! No… Johnny Rivers isn’t my fella! “Do you remember when, we used to sing… Sha la la la la la la la la lala de da!”

What colour do I wear the most? Denim blue – jeans practically every day. Except for some reason I decided to wear black slacks today (see “sexy” question!).

What colour do you never wear?  I love the colour, but just not on me ~ Yellow. So fresh, fun & lively. I’m sad ‘cause it just washes me out. :-(

What colour do you wear when you want to feel sexy?  That’s easy… classic black!!

What colour gets you the most compliments?  Pretty much any jewel tone… particularly pink! But not that lovely yellow *sigh*

What colour is your lipstick? I don’t generally wear lipstick – just lip balm. I use this great balm from The Body Shop, loaded with Vitamin E. Nice!! But when I do wear lipstick, I usually go for a pale pink.

What colour was your living room when you were growing up? We lived in military housing when I was growing up and relocated every year (until I was 12) so my parents didn’t paint the walls… but I remember our sofa was a brown, gold and orange print. Funny… I love these colours today!

What colour was your bedroom when you were growing up? When I was 12 my parents settled and bought their first house – and my Mom had a blast designing my room! She papered all 4 walls and had a fabric printed in the same pattern for my bedspread and curtains… White with Red & Blue flowers! And there was a gold “V” on the wall… just like Mary Tyler Moore!! I loved that room and I WISH I had a photo to remember it by!!

What colour are your sheets? A soft, mossy green paired with a brown blanket. LOVE!

What colour was your favourite crayon as a child? Always… red! And I had to scramble with my brother to get to it first!!

What colour is your car? Red! Is there a pattern here?

What colour was your prom dress? I loved my PINK prom dress – I saw it on the cover of Brides Magazine and wanted it so badly!! My dad sourced it out for me and mailed it up from California. I was so happy! I also wore my wonderful dress in the beauty pageant I was in... way back when!!

What’s your favourite gemstone? I love diamonds. I’m a simple girl; easy to please!! :-)

What is your favourite flower? I can’t decide! I DO love the simplicity and freshness of tall Shasta Daises, though.

What colour makes me happiest? ORANGE!!!!!

   

 What colour depresses you? Pinky-beige. It’s just plain sad.

What colour calms you? Green. One time, flying into Vancouver from California, I remember looking out the window and feeling that all was right with the world as I gazed at all our glorious green! HOME!

What colour makes you grind your teeth? Fluorescent Yellow. It’s horrible!

Of course I also HATE the colour currently in my out-of-date, needs a complete gut-renovation, bathroom… hospital green! It’s too damned ugly to share!! EWWWW! And I’m not referring to the goat/ram above.

What colour would you like to try, but are scared to? I really can’t think of any! Colour is too wonderful!! BUT… I promise to tell you the moment I experience colour trepidation!!
