BUZZ OFF (No, not you!!)

According to theweathernetwork.com, “the good news about deer flies and horse flies is that they're more interested in biting animals than biting people.” Well, me and the massive red welt on my left butt cheek beg to differ. My plans to spend the week at the cottage got shafted by endless swarms of deer flies from morning till night (well, that combined with +40 temps and the cold form hell). The poor dogs were deer fly buffets, and I’m going to hear that buzzing in my head for the next week. I HATE DEER FLIES AND I WANT THEM ALL TO DIE. Not that I condone violence, but those little b*stards should NOT be allowed to exist. There isn’t a single positive thing that they contribute to society. Yeah, I’m talkin’ to you, you little murderous %$!!@#*$##

But just so you don’t think I’m a total bug-hater, there ARE some bugs that I like. Neon blue & purple damselflies are beautiful…

I saw a one a few days ago that was an icy white-blue…

And I also saw a blue one with a bright green head. I thought maybe it was a mutant, but it seems to be another variety…

Farrow & Ball makes a lovely bumble bee wallpaper…

Check out this bright & cheerful butterfly fabric…

This group of metallic dragonflies on your wall would be cool (available at delight.com)

If you’ve got a no-fail method for keeping deer flies away, I’d love to hear about it!!

Ha ha. This post made me laugh. Especially the part about you being bit on the bum! I have the same sentiments about deer and horse flies, but that Farrow and Ball wallpaper is pretty cute...

Oh Kelly I missed you this week! You're too funny! So sorry you're feeling crappy I hope you're on the mend soon and I'll tell those deer flies to leave you alone. But the best remedy is to stay indoors....

I always hated how deer flies burrow into your hair. Back in my Canadian wilderness days, we used to wear hats with a mosquito net attachment. Here's one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310170385231&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=%3F*S%3F&GUID=d580b0b81250a0b5844374a3ff6248d3&itemid=310170385231&ff4=263602_263622

They aren't very glamorous but they keep them off your face and out of your hair.

Aww - damselflies - even the name is dainty - and their colours are beautiful.

Unlike those ugly, flesh eating, swarm flying deer flies. Hope their season isn't too long :(.

Oh man! You and Victoria are both sick...and on oposite sides of the country!! Crummy. I hope you feel better soon. Speaking of insects, the big thing around here is mosquitoes at night, and they go NUTS on me. I literally get eaten alive. I wish they would all die too!:)
