The Brizo Talo: Art for the kitchen

Back in February, Jamie Goldberg at Gold Notes wrote this post about a great little kitchen gadget. It’s the Dish Towel Butler from Brizo:

Why did it take so long for someone to come up with this great idea?! I left a comment on Jamie’s post gushing over the awesomeness of Brizo’s dish towel butler.

A couple of days later, I received an e-mail from Charlie Kondek, Director of New Media Relations at MS&L Worldwide, the PR firm for Brizo. He had seen my comment over at Gold Notes, and popped over to check out DesignTies. He offered to keep me in the loop on all things Brizo. Having read numerous posts about the beautiful Brizo faucets by Paul over at Kitchen and Residential Design (do a search at K&RD for “Brizo”) as well as Jamie’s post, I was thrilled to be part of the Brizo in-crowd :-)

But that was nothing compared to what happened next — Charlie offered to send me a faucet of my choice to use and review!! I had bought a gooseneck faucet in oil rubbed bronze for our kitchen, but I wasn’t happy with it. It dripped a lot, and the pull-out spout didn’t always stay firmly in place. So I told Charlie I’d love to replace it with a Brizo faucet, and he told me to let him know which one I wanted.

How to choose?! I narrowed it down with three requirements — gooseneck style, single-lever pull-down, and the Venetian Bronze finish. The Talo was the perfect choice :-) From Brizo’s web site:

My Talo faucet doesn’t have the SmartTouch technology and I didn’t get the dish cloth butler. Two great innovations that would be fantastic to have, but when you’re replacing a 1975 Pinto with a free 2010 Ferrari, it’s no biggie if it doesn’t have every bell and whistle!!

I’ve been using my Talo faucet for a few weeks. The lines and finish of the faucet and matching soap dispenser are beautiful — like a piece of art for the kitchen.

The Venetian Bronze finish has strands of copper throughout the metal:

The soap dispenser is the biggest and heaviest soap dispenser I’ve ever seen!! It looks like a mini-faucet :-)

My favourite feature of the Talo faucet is that if I select the sprayer option, it stays on the sprayer option after I turn it off. So next time I turn it on, I get the sprayer. Our old faucet always reverted back to the regular flow after I turned it off, which was annoying because I like to use the sprayer the majority of the time.

The water flow is a lot more powerful than it was with the old faucet. In fact, our two previous kitchen faucets had pretty weak water flow. I had just assumed it was because the water had a long way to go from the water tank to the faucet.

The MagneLock Technology keeps the pull-down spout firmly in place. When the spout is about here:
