Beds & bricks

Every time I search the Net for pictures for a blog post, my search somehow morphs into something completely different. I was looking for pictures of rooms with multiple chandeliers, and I came across this bedroom:

I love the combination of the softness of the bed against with hardness of the brick wall, and the glamourous crystal chandelier against the rustic brick. I also love the warmth and texture of the brick.

So this sent me off on a tangent looking for bedrooms with brick walls…

I love the look of pendant lights or mini-chandeliers hanging above night tables…

This brick niche is cool — bet it looks pretty at night with the candles lit.

This bedroom has a nice casual elegance to it. A pretty chandelier would be the perfect finishing touch. The bedding looks like Willow from Amenity.

Love this one. The dark four-poster bed stands out so nicely against the whitewashed brick. Nice texture on the bedding, and a pretty & unusual chandelier…

The wood ceiling adds even more warmth and texture to this bedroom… nice combination of industrial and rustic too.

Whoever sleeps on this side of the bed better be careful not to get a face full of brick flipping over in the middle of the night!!

This framed square of brick looks great just as it is. But it would also look great with a piece of artwork – either a cool abstract painting or an interesting object (but no deer heads, please!!)

Even though the brick walls in these rooms are painted white, they still add texture to the spaces. (I just realized — this is the same room decorated two different ways!!)

Do you like the look of a brick wall in the bedroom, or do you prefer to be surrounded by softness??

These are all lovely! Especially the Hudson Bay blanket...I just got the same one for Christmas last year :) The high ceilings sure help...a chandelier is a great idea...maybe I should do one in my mbr.

Best,
Michelle

I love the brick! I have seen the first picture before and fell in love. My other favorites are the whitewashed brick and the framed brick. I don't think it takes away from the softness of the rooms but makes the soft touches stand out more. I really love the texture it adds to the room. I would take a brick wall in any room of my house, though, I just love them so much! Thanks for all the inspirational photos!

Those are beautiful. Brick walls like that always remind me of lofts in the East! We just don't have those here! Great post!

I love all the images, but the first and the Venice Breeze Suites ones are my favorites. Makes me want to brick over a wall in my own bedroom! ha! I wonder if anyone ever does that?!

Fun post! We don't have a lot of brick home in California bc of the earthquake factor. It looks great in these bedrooms.

I don't think I'd want a wall of bricks in my house, but I do like the brick niche with all the candles - that is very cool!

I really like that "framed" portion of brick wall. Thanks for sharing it!

I have been drooling over brick walls for the last few years (since starting my decorator career actually). I love the raw, natural feeling of brick, I love the contrast of texture. And I love the versatility of style - modern, country, traditional ... it's a wonderful feature to work with!

Great post Kelly - and wonderful pictures! I like them ALL!

I always rode the fence on red brick (or would that be brick wall?), but you've converted me. All these examples were hard not to jump for joy. My fav is the one that there are two designs, but I buckle at the knees for the yellow version. It's funny how ideas for posts can take a completely different turn. I get carried off in another direction sometimes like a kid @ Christmas! Happy weekend to you Kelly & hope all is well?

I love the brick! Sigh. Someday I would love to have a bedroom that looked like one of those.

I love them all! If I had to pick one, maybe the Room Envy... like the bed and comforter!

We stayed at a hotel in Columbus, OH, for a wedding this year, called The Lofts... it had the original brick and we loved it! That was why we went to that place...the pictures on the website were so appealing and different ;)

I just love this. I would never think to put a brick wall in the bedroom. But it works...beatuiful.

I love the upholstered wall next to the brick wall..., I guess I'm in a cozy mood since it's gotten cold out.

I love the look! I want to see if I can "make" this on a wall in the living room. So neat!
