Hometown Heroes Lottery: Do you have YOUR ticket?!

I’m so sorry – tickets are only available here in British Columbia!

And if you’re from any other part of the world, you may just wish you lived here so that you could purchase a ticket… or more(!)… for this lovely home!

Exterior Front

Located in the White Rock/South Surrey area – south of the city of Vancouver – this terrific family home, in combination with all furnishings, a 2010 Mercedes GLK 350 SUV and a 2009 Harley-Davidson Road King, is being offered as one of three possible grand prizes in the Hometown Heroes Lottery (Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehab Centre, and BC Professional Fire Fighters). Proceeds for this lottery help fund medical equipment, pioneering research for the latest treatments and lifesaving programs of the Burn Fund.

And if you don’t like the house/car/bike (valued at over 1.9 million)?? You can opt for one of the other 2 grand prizes: 3 luxury condos… yes, all 3 (1 in White Rock overlooking the ocean, 1 in Vancouver with a city view and 1 in Kelowna [BC’s interior] looking over Okanagan Lake [where you may spot the lake’s mythological monster, Ogopogo, while you drink your morning coffee!]) OR $1,500,000 in cash!

What would you choose?

Let me help you out a little by showing you some photos I took last Friday during a tour my husband and I took of this great house. I’ve pulled some pics of the house from the lottery’s website, too… some of my photos just don’t do the house justice!

Here we go…

The first rooms you see as you enter the front door are the formal living room and the home office

Picture5These two front rooms are small, but they have lovely features – the mirrors on either side of the living room’s fireplace helps to increase the size of the small room and I love the coffered ceiling in the office/den! The only thing that makes me say “hmmmm”… the need for a formal living room in the first place. I think you’ll understand why I’m unsure when you see the great room; it’s the perfect space for entertaining. I guess it’s all about lifestyle!

Before the promised great room, the first of two powder rooms on the main floor and the dining room.

Before we go any further… Kelly!! Look at that chandelier!! Does it look familiar?! For everyone wondering what the heck I’m going on about, check out Kelly’s living room (photo to the right) and you’ll see the exact same beautiful chandelier! Kelly’s got good taste, hey? Or perhaps I should say that the designer who worked on the lottery house was smart to copy Kelly! :-)

Back to the dining room above… I LOVE how the chandelier and the two lamps on the buffet in the back of the room mimic the absolutely wonderful coffered ceiling in this room? FAB!

Now… the great room, eating area and kitchen!

See the door in the back of the room – it leads to a Butler’s Pantry that connects to the dining room. Love it!

Mid-way up the stairs we came across the guest room, it’s bathroom and a terrific laundry room. I thought it was great that the laundry room wasn’t in the basement – so much more accessible!

Take the next set of stairs and you’re to the second floor, standing at the Juliet Balcony overlooking the great room… and next to it, the Principal bedroom and ensuite bathroom.

Master 2

Not all that crazy about the padded wall behind the bed’s headboard – it looked like acoustical panels or, worse yet, a padded cell! I’ve seen some great padded headboards and, in my opinion, this isn’t one of them. I did like the bathtub and its faucet, though… the water would cascade down like a beautiful waterfall! Not sure if it would make the best bubbles though! ;-)

I’ve shared lots of photos with you – perhaps too many – and there are still 2 more bedrooms with Jack & Jill bathroom on the second floor and, in the basement, a family & games room, full bar, wine cellar, media room, another bedroom and bathroom as well as a workout room! If you’re interested in seeing more, why not head over to the Hometown Heroes Lottery website – you’ll see all the all the rooms I didn’t show you!

To finish off my tour, however, I’ll share the back yard… a great place to relax on a sunny summer day, hosting a great BBQ party… or maybe you’d prefer to laze in the hot tub on a starry night!

I hope you enjoyed your tour!

Wow, this is just beautiful. I do agree about the formal living room, I can't see that I would spend much time in there. But it could be turned into a library, no? And perhaps the "padded cell" headboard is not a pad idea lol. This is a gorgeous home, might even entice me to purchase a snow shovel tee hee! Kathy

What a fun tour! Really like the exterior and the porch with the outdoor fireplace. Don't think I'd want the hot tub hogging so much space on the patio right outside the back door, but maybe it's just the angle of the photo that makes it look so cramped (like the door wouldn't open all the way).

No chance for a ticket here :)
But it is a beautiful house.
Thanks for the tour

Wow wow and more wow. What fun. Such a beautiful home. I'm loving that laundry room since mine is such a mess. I'm feeling inspired to clean it up!

LOVE IT! Hope you purchased at least two tickets Victoria, then you cud take us on a personal tour. :) I recognized Kelly's ceiling fixture. YES, I agree she does have "good taste"! (Particularly love what she is contemplating for her L/Rm.)

(IF you are going to purchase any, best to purchase on two separate occasions as it gives you better odds of winning....at least that is what the experts claim, other wise you may end up with similar numbers with only one digit different.)

Beautiful!! I lived in White Rock for a year ,across the street from the ocean, and it was heaven.....how nice it would be to move into this place....wish I was still a local.

PS: I read that Sarah Richardson did the in-law suite

OH, can you get some tickets for me?!?! I'd move there if I won that house! It's amazing (except for the padded cell headboard, of course)!!

I love the exterior of the home and the landscaping. So very natural and just plain pretty to look at. It's like you cannot see everything at a glance unlike most home exteriors.

The interior was nice. Kitchen seemed over the top but was pretty to look at. I really liked the office and the formal living rooms, very welcoming and relaxed. I didn't care for the mud colors especially on the walls. Since there is little sunshine in the northwest I can't conceive the brown idea. But that may be just lighting too.

Wonderful post and I loved all the photos taken!
